Back in the 1950s (and that tells you how OLD I am) I started to collect model cars, starting with Dinky Toys, then Corgi Toys, and that should tell you that I grew up in England, home of both those brand of cars. Each week, when getting my pocket money, I would rush up to Bakers, the local toy shop that had hundreds of different model cars for me to gaze upon, and to decide which one I would spend my two shillings and sixpence on.
Being a young boy living in rural England, naturally I was attracted to the models of the big American cars, the Plymouth Plaza, the Dodge Royal, the Packard Clipper, the Studebaker Golden Hawk, and so on, and my money usually went on to buying one of those. At that time I could not imagine that comparatively late in life I would emigrate to the USA, and now, in my seventies, I prefer to collect old BRITISH cars, the Hillman Minx, the Singer Gazelle, Humber Hawks and many more.
And although I have never driven a van, I am very much a fan of vintage vans, and my own collection contains a high percentage of such elegant, vintage delivery vans and trucks, some of which I will show on other pages.
For now, take a look at the model cars that are available on our site. I’ve only just started this, so keep checking back as more content will be added daily.
For those unfamiliar with Dinky Toys click here for the page on Amazon U.K. about them, In recent years a company called Atlas has produced very good replicas of many of the old Dinky stock.
